Lisa Mooney on the Rise and Fall of Blue Collar Workers in Welland
November 22 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Welland was a burgeoning industrial hub at the beginning of the 20th century. Yet, as that century closed, the vast majority of those industries had left. Welland is not alone in this fate, as many Canadian cities have also suffered. Lisa Mooney will explore the rise and fall of blue collar Welland and explain how the city is renewing its identity in the 21st century.
Lisa is Executive Director of the Welland Museum and has lived in Niagara for 25 years. She loves sharing stories about the history of the region.
The Society will also hold its Annual General Meeting on this date.
Tribute to Dave Bennison – The Pelham Historical Society was shocked to learn that Local History enthusiast Dave Bennison, who was originally scheduled to be our November speaker, passed away on August 29, 2025. His stories of Niagara’s past were posted daily to over 29,000 followers on his Facebook page Historical Niagara. Dave will be sorely missed by all of us who love the history of Niagara.
